Caring for your glasses

Eyeglasses are an excellent vision correction option for many people. Also, wearing them has become a fashion statement in the past few years. Now, getting eyeglasses is more than just shopping for function—it is also a way of expression. Eyeglasses help you see and change how people see you.

Suitable frames are now available that can last you several years. But they will not last as long as they are meant to last if you are not taking care of them. Also, with poor maintenance, the designer aspect of the glasses and the beauty may be overshadowed by dirt. Taking care of your eyeglasses is critical to reaping all the benefits that come with them.

Cleaning the lenses

Don’t wipe dry lenses

It is common for people to wipe down their lenses if they notice they are dusty. While it seems to get the job done, it does more than that. Dust particles can damage your lenses. Moreover, some of the debris on your lenses can scratch your lenses with enough pressure. Wiping down your lenses while they are dry drags these dust particles and other debris across the lens surface while pressing on them. It is a sure way to inflict tiny scratches on your clear lenses.

Use glasses cleaner

You can get an eyeglass cleaner to help you clean up your lenses. Ensure you do not use household cleaners because they can damage your lens coatings.

Cloth or fabrics

When you get your glasses, they come with a fabric to clean them. This soft fabric is the best option for cleaning your glasses as it is very soft and absorbs most of the dust. If you do not have it, you can get a microfiber cloth. These types of fabric are soft and gentle on your lenses.
