Getting your Prescription

Before you can use Solent Spectacles service you will need to have a copy of your prescription. You may already have one from a previous sight test and providing it is less than 2 years old, or less than 1 year if you are over 70 years old, you can use it.If however your prescription is over 2 years old we strongly advise you to have a new sight test, as regular eye examinations can reveal visual and other health problems before they become serious.


You can use either your own local optician or one of the high street branches to obtain a new prescription. The optician must provide you with a clear and legible copy of your prescription after a sight test and you should not be subjected to any undue pressure to purchase spectacles at the same shop.

Should you decide not to use Solent Spectacles unbeatable service we would still advise you to obtain, and keep your prescription after each eye test, and to consider taking a copy with you when away from home, especially abroad, in case you lose or break your spectacles.
